Gorgeous Grunge | Hardwood | Ink Pad holder

Howdy everyone, I've been really busy today with a project that I have been wanting to do for months!  So why today, well I started to clean up and reorganise my crafting area, then when I created a space, inspiration hit - and that was it for cleaning up, but I did manage to finish this:

I picked the craft wood turntable from a clearance rack in a craft store back in the new year, had the idea that it would be great for storing my ink pads and other regularly used items. Apart from roughly putting it together to make sure I had all the parts, I didn't get much further

Initially my plan was to paint and then decorate with DSP, but then today I got the idea of stamping.  I reached for my Gorgeous Grunge set without blinking and started - oh my there are lots of parts when you start stamping!

I needed something more, then again, inspiration, why not use the Hardwood Background stamp - it worked a treat.  For the larger sections I used Post-it notes so that I didn't double stamp the woodgrain

I even did some parquetry!

I also used the Hardwood stamp for the edges of the craftwood, I got carried away and went back and stamped Gorgeous Grunge where I had stamped over the edge too!

And here is the completed Ink Pad holder in "action"

I am over the moon with the finished product!

Project Life with a touch of Botanical Blooms | GDP032

I've made a mini card with Botanical Blooms today to incorporate into my Project Life layout.

The idea for this came about when I saw the Global Design CASE the designer challenge this week, as the design reminded me of my wedding, Pink (no surprises there) and Silver were my theme colours for our Garden Wedding.

I embossed the sentiment from Suite Sayings in Silver, and then die cut and stamped/aqua painted/sponged flowers in Blushing Bride and leaves from the Botanical Blooms Bundle to create my arrangement. I swapped Mint Macaron for Wild Wasabi so as to better blend with the photo layout. A touch of Wink of Stella, and I was done.

The other card is from the Love Story Project Life Accessory Pack, I also stamped that with Blushing Bride, here is the finished layout:

Party Wishes Bakers Box

Kids and parties, here's a cute idea for a "Thank you" using the Baker's Box Thinlets

I've used It's My Party DSP to make the box; as these sheets are 12 x 12 you can make 2 boxes with one sheet.  I also added a strip of the DSP as a layer on the banners which I cut with the Triple Banner Punch.

The sentiment and the balloons are from the Party Wishes Bundle, there are 3 cute little punches with this bundle.

The box is closed using a Clothespin (easy to open and close) with Bakers Twine from the It's my Party suite tied in a bow for decoration.

12 x 12 Project Life pages for under $1

I love big photos, but they are so expensive to print I find it hard to justify at times.  So I had a play in Photoshop and found a fab alternative to get the same impact, but for a fraction of the cost.

I am lucky to have all the digital images from our Wedding, and they quite large files so I had a fairly high quality image to work with in Photoshop, I used Photoshop Elements 11 as follows:
  1. Turn the ruler function on so you have a guide when using your selection tool
  2. Crop you image to a square - it doesn't have to be 12 x 12 in size, I found it helped to have the size where I could calculate the image sizes down to 6 x 4, eg 24 x 24
  3. Then using the Rectangularl Marquee tool, set the aspect Fixed Ratio as 6 wide by 4 high for this Project Life layout
  4. Then select segments of the square image, and copy into a new image as you go, ending up with 6 separate images,
  5. Print the 6 images - I printed at Harvey Norman for 15 cents each (would be 10 cents if I could have waited til the next day), instead of over $10 for a 12 x 12 print
  6. Create your Project Life page!
I'm really happy with how the image turned out.  This has given me a new angle with Project Life, endless possibilities!

Crazy Crafters Blog Hop | Special Guest Brian King

Hello and welcome to the Crazy Crafters Blog Hop featuring Special Guest Brian King. Brian has been and will continue to be an inspiration to me - He is so vibrant, full of energy which show through in projects, I just love his work. After watching his YouTube projects I now hear his cheery  voice as I read through all of his wonderful project details, tip and hints on his blog.

Brian King

Deciding what wonderful project to case was a challenge in itself, as so many of Brians projects appeal to me, one thing that stands out and gets my attention immediately is how Brian uses border repetition to create layers - I just adore them!  I also love how he incorporates DSP into his projects - something I should use more, Stamping Up DSP is just so pretty, I always look at it and are afraid to cut! Below are are a couple of cards featuring use of borders/layers and DSP - So there you have it, my CASE elements, Layers and using my DSP not just looking at how pretty it is!

An Autumn Thank You with English Garden - STAMP WITH BRIAN: Hello, It's My Party Designer Series Paper Stack, Stampin' Up!, Brian King, CYCI100:

I just adore the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack, and my favourite colour combo for this DSP was just called to be featured for this CASE.  I love these Calypso Coral flowers, I've use both the Basic Black and Very Vanilla backgrounds on this design - I couldn't choose between them!  Just love how this turned out with the diagonal band separating the DSP, such a cheery flower design, perfect for the Happy Hello sentiment from the Tin of Cards set.

Once you have worked out the size of your borders to create the layers it is super quick to put your card together, I just I had to make another to showcase It's My Party DSP.  This DSP just bursts with colour, the sentiment from Party Wishes can be used to for any occasion, even for when you just want to let someone know you are thinking of you - making this set fab as it is so much more than just for Birthdays.

I would love it if you could pin my cards! Thank you so much Brian for your time and inspiration. So make sure you hop all the way around our Crazy Crafters hop and see all the incredible ideas, and if you have a chance please leave a comment, we love receiving comments. You are currently on my blog - Sue Vine, check who is below me and that is where to head to next! Thanks for hopping with us.
